The Planning Inspector’s examination of the draft Uttlesford Local Plan commences on Tuesday 18th November, at 10am at the Uttlesford District Council Offices on London Road, Saffron Walden.
The Examination is the formal procedure whereby a Government Inspector determines whether or not Uttlesford District Council’s draft Local Plan Is legally compliant. This is the proposed Local Plan which would govern development in Uttlesford for the next 15 year. As well as placing large amounts of housing on the east of Saffron Walden and in other unsustainable locations throughout the district, it woefully short changes residents in the lack of infrastructure obligations on developers.
The hearing sits Tuesday to Friday this week (18 – 21 November), and then the week after next (2-5 December). We understand that the Hearing is an informal round table discussion led by the Inspector. He will introduce a subject and invite participants to speak to reinforce the views already given in the submitted papers. WeAreResidents.org will be represented throughout the Hearing, to reinforce the points we have made previously in our written submissions.
Each day of the Hearing will look at a different topic. You can download copies of the Inspector’s timetable and the agendas from our website:
You will see from the agendas that the Inspector appears to have taken note of many of the issues we have raised.
We encourage as many residents to attend all of some of the hearings as can make it. The public are not allowed to speak, but can attend. If you would like to speak about any topic, and have previously submitted a response to the consultations, you may still be allowed to – e-mail the programme officer, Louise St John Howe at email@example.com.
