47 additional homes in Thaxted after Inspector overturns planning refusal

In August 2013 a planning application (UTT/13/1170/OP) for 47 new homes on farmland Thaxted was refused by UDC on ecological grounds. The site is behind Wedow Road and Waverhead Close.

The landowner offered to offset the loss of wildlife habitat and appealed the decision. This week the Planning Inspector has overturned the 2013 UDC Planning Committee decision. This clears the way for the 47 new homes to be built. How UDC defended their refusal can be read in the Planning Inspector’s decision report at this link: Case Summary for APP/C1570/A/13/2206357.

These homes are in addition to both the 123 already approved by UDC for Thaxted under their draft Local Plan, and the 120 proposed by developer Gladman.

  1. Jonathan Golding says:

This is a terrible decision when will the boundaries be drawn- when we reach Dunmow ?

  2. Amy Corzine says:

There are no boundaries when certain government officials have the attitude of wanting something without thinking of consequences. For ideas on nicer houses for Essex, see this: http://www.living-architecture.co.uk/the-houses/a-house-for-essex/overview/
