Press Release: John Lodge pledges policies for a healthy town at successful election campaign launch event

Residents’ campaign group announces a successful campaign launch event for John Lodge, its “Independent for Residents” prospective candidate for the Essex County Council elections on 2nd May 2013.

At a well-attended meeting on Sunday 17th February, prospective county councillor John Lodge outlined his high level policies to residents. He said “People love Saffron Walden because it is a market town; the perfect blend of rural and urban that creates a safe and healthy environment to live and bring up families. But party-political agendas and a lack of a long-term planning mean our way of life is now under threat”.

At the meeting John Lodge highlighted a few of his policies, designed to deliver a:

  • Healthy Town, through proper traffic management that also seeks to reduce emission levels back to below legal limits.
  • Healthy Children, via maintaining educational access to the SWCHS, including 6th Form
  • Healthy Living, through the provision of new cycle routes and a network of walking and rambling trails

John Lodge said:

“There has been a complete absence of any joined up thinking and investment in Saffron Walden for too long. As far as Chelmsford County Hall is concerned, we are in Cambridgeshire. We need to get our fair share of investment and create plans to protect what’s best, fix what’s broken, and ensure the long-term health of our town and its residents”.

John Lodge continued:

“I’d personally like to thank all the volunteers that signed up at the event to help as we hit the streets. We will be delivering our first election leaflet through doors over the next few weeks, but in the meantime people can find out more at
