Hull Local Plan rejected by HM Inspector; lessons to be learnt

In an interesting development in Hull, the city council’s local development plan has been rejected by HM Inspector. Amongst other things, the Planning Inspectorate found that Hull City Council’s Core Strategy document did not comply with the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) in relation to the provision of an up-to-date evidence base. believes that the draft Uttlesford Local Plan also fails to comply with the NPPF and is not evidence based. For over 5 years all of UDC’s evidence has highlighted a new settlement as the best and most sustainable option. Not only is UDC’s recent U-turn not backed by evidence, all the evidence actually says the opposite.

In Saffron Walden, more than 2,150 residents have demanded the UDC revisit their evidence and revert to the previous and most sustainable option. We urge Uttlesford District Council to do this before the Planning Inspectorate also reject this plan.
